Nearly five centuries ago during the Sengoku Era, Kokushibo was a human and the older twin brother of Yoriichi, who was the strongest Demon Slayer that ever existed


As the highest ranking member of the Twelve Kizuki, Kokushibo is an extraordinarily powerful demon, second only to the Demon King Muzan. His overwhelming power is first displayed when he slashes off Akaza's arm before he could even react, later it was stated by Doma that Akaza would never be able to surpass Kokushibo despite him improving his skills for decades prior to their meeting. During the Infinity Castle Arc, Kokushibo manages to effortlessly overwhelm the Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito, a prodigy who was previously shown to be capable of singlehandedly defeating Gyokko an Upper moon Rank Five, however Kokushibo easily slices off Muichiro's hand before he could react, Kokushibo also was able to catch his sword mid-swing with his bare hand and proceeds to stab Muichiro with it


Kokushibo also Fought the Stone Hashira, He who's Viewed as the Strongest Hashira, when Gyōmei Himejima arrived he momentarily stalled the battle by matching his strength and speed to that of Kokushibo , However Kokushibo quickly forced the Stone Hashira to use his Demon Slayer Mark. As further testament to his overwhelming power, Kokushibo could simultaneously hold back Sanemi and Gyomei, even when the two had their physical abilities increased by their Demon Slayer Mark.


it took the combined effort and abilities of Gyomei, Sanemi, Muichiro, and Genya, the former three who were marked, to even land a significant injury to Kokushibo, that alone show's how powerful Kokushibo is
